On a mission for the wild:

PRINTS FOR WILDLIFE is coming back to support African Parks on their mission to manage 30 parks by 2030

After raising US$1.75 million for non-profit African Parks in the previous two print sales, Prints for Wildlife is returning on 28th of August 2022 with an even larger mission - helping to protect new parks in Africa.

August 24, 2022: Wildlife lovers are coming together again to give back to nature and help protect endangered species and communities in Africa! Over 100 photographers are joining to sell limited numbers of wildlife photo prints for just one month on www.printsforwildlife.org for the benefit of conservation non-profit African Parks. Prints for Wildlife returns for a new edition of the print sale fundraiser on August 28, 2022.

  • With nearly 50% of Africa’s landmass suffering degradation, and the rapidly increasing affects biodiversity loss has on the climate crisis, it is critical to come together in support of conservation.

  • By purchasing an exclusive fine art print helping protect wildlife has never been easier or more beautiful!

  • Prints for Wildlife is setting out to help African Parks safeguard 30 million hectares of Africa’s protected areas, contributing to the global target of protecting 30% of nature on Earth by 2030.

With the simple purchase of a stunning fine art print, everyone can help support this vital work.

How to support the fundraiser:

  • Visit www.printsforwildlife.org on launch day August 28, 2022 to purchase a print.

  • Tell friends and family about the fundraiser.

  • Give prints as gifts to loved ones!

Created by photographers Marion Payr and Pie Aerts, Prints for Wildlife launched for the first time in July 2020, as the devastating impacts of the global COVID-19 pandemic started to be seen across Africa’s communities and wildlife areas. In the last two editions Prints for Wildlife raised US$1.75 million for African Parks by selling over 15,000 unique wildlife prints.

To support the organisation’s vision of securing more protected areas in Africa, a third edition of the successful print sale will launch on August 28, 2022 and run for a limited period of just one month, closing on September 25, 2022.

This year’s fundraiser will feature more than 100 photos from acclaimed wildlife photographers, including Cristina Mittermeier, Paul Nicklen, Will Burrard Lucas, Beverly Joubert, Drew Doggett, Marsel van Oosten, Ami Vitale, Joachim Schmeisser, Karim Illya and Gaël Ruboneka Vande weghe. Each of the photographers will donate one fine art print each to the fundraiser, which will be sold for US$100 through the online shop Prints for Wildlife.

100% of the proceeds after printing and handling are directly donated to African Parks to support their conservation efforts well into the future.

Buying limited edition art prints with one united goal: growing safe spaces where people and wildlife can flourish

The goal of this year’s fundraiser is to support the growth of African Parks and the addition of new parks to their portfolio.

Why support African Parks?

  • African Parks is a non-profit conservation organisation that takes on the complete responsibility for the rehabilitation and long-term management of national parks and protected areas in partnership with governments and local communities.

  • African Parks currently manages 22 parks in 12 countries across Africa, including Kafue (Zambia), Akagera (Rwanda) and Liwonde (Malawi) National Parks, in partnership with governments for the benefit of local communities and wildlife - the largest and most ecologically diverse portfolio of protected areas in Africa under management by any one conservation organisation.

  • African Parks is looking to sign a number of new parks within the coming months and years, including Luengue-Luiana and Mavinga National Parks in Angola and Boma and Bandingilo National Parks in South Sudan, making sure that more exceptional ecosystems, endemic species, and natural habitats are being protected, while sustainably and holistically benefiting communities and wildlife.

Purchasing a single print at just US$100 will help African Parks in it’s goal to manage 30 protected areas by 2030 - amounting to 30 million hectares of wilderness across the continent. Managed effectively, these vital natural landscapes will continue to safeguard biodiversity and deliver valuable ecosystem services that underpin human wellbeing.

About Prints for Wildlife

Prints for Wildlife was launched in 2020 by co-founders Marion Payr and Pie Aerts. It is one of the largest fundraisers for African wildlife and communities. Hundreds of photographers have joined since it’s inception in 2020 for one goal: to give back to conservation. They donated unique wildlife photos to be sold as limited edition fine art prints available for only one month on www.printsforwildlife.org for US$100 each during the fundraising campaign. Prints for Wildlife raised US$1.75 million by selling over 15,000 unique wildlife prints in the previous two editions. On 28th of August 2022, they are returning in what will be another memorable showcase of exceptional photography for the benefit of wildlife and people. 100% of the proceeds (after printing and handling) go directly to African Parks to continue their efforts to protect animals, habitats and communities in 22 parks in 12 African countries.

About Marion Payr

Marion Payr (Instagram: @marionpayr) is a travel photographer based in Austria. At the centre of Marion’s work is a dedication to the art of traveling, which unites us globally and acts as a driving force for cultural understanding and conservation. She believes in the power of imagery to convey these values to future generations. Marion dedicates much of her career to female empowerment, believing an equal representation of voices and images supports a vision of a united world in the spirit of togetherness. After not being able to travel to Africa in 2020, she finally got to experience African Parks’ work on the ground in Akagera and Nyungwe National Parks in Rwanda in summer 2022. Seeing the effects of African Parks’ long-term involvement in Rwanda has furthered her desire to host a third edition of Prints for Wildlife.

About Pie Aerts

Pie Aerts (@pie_aerts) is a Dutch documentary and wildlife photographer with an interest in human-wildlife conflict stories. Through his lens, he examines the intricate relationship between animals, humans and nature and, as we become increasingly distant from each other and ourselves, he uses photography to search for the cause of this disconnect. He believes art can be an incredibly powerful tool in restoring that lost connection, and, therefore, founded Prints for Wildlife in March 2020. Since the international outbreak of COVID-19, Pie traveled to Kenya three times to work on his new collection Umoja, furthering his personal relationship with the Kenyan landscape. Pie serves as a Canon EMEA ambassador and as Hahnemühle Natural Line Ambassador.

Quotes and Comments from Prints for Wildlife founders and African Parks

“The incredible success of Prints for Wildlife came as a much needed reminder that, even in times of crisis, humanity can come together to spread hope and do good for our planet. Wildlife conservation, protecting valuable biomes and supporting communities has now found a place in the hearts and, with the stunning art of all the generous photographers, on the walls of thousands of homes across the globe. Now it’s time to support African Parks in their mission to grow to managing 30 parks by 2030.” Marion Payr (Co-founder of Prints for Wildlife)

“The key to conservation is putting people at the heart of the solution. This is done through community programs supporting health, education, job security, and sustainable livelihoods. African Parks, and their community-first approach to conservation, is ensuring that the protected areas under their management are safe places where wildlife and people can flourish. In safe places, magical things can happen. Therefore, choosing African Parks as our partner for this campaign was a no-brainer.” Pie Aerts (Co-Founder of Prints for Wildlife)

“We feel honoured to be entering into another Prints for Wildlife sale, engaging with world-renowned talent to help enhance the work we do at African Parks. As part of our mission to manage 30 parks by 2030, we recently signed a long-term agreement with the Government of Zambia for Kafue National Park, increasing our management portfolio to 22 parks in 12 countries across Africa. We continue to work hard to enter into long-term management agreements in partnership with governments for Luengue-Luiana and Mavinga National Parks in Angola and Boma and Bandingilo National Parks in South Sudan. The 2022 Prints for Wildlife campaign is a step towards helping us achieve this goal.” Carli Flemmer, Chief Marketing Officer for African Parks.
